A bike race involving 34 riders from the Redditch Escargots Cycling Collective covered an amazing 2418 miles and raised in excess of £2,500 for local children’s charity the Oakland Foundation.
Taking to the roads early on Saturday 2nd September, the ‘snails’ challenge involved three set routes in and around Redditch, with the day seeing them cycling up to, and in some cases over 100 miles during the day.
Oakland Foundation Trustee Luke Attwell, commented: “This is an amazing achievement and a fantastic fundraising result – well done and thank you to everyone who supported the members of the Redditch Escargots Cycling Club.
“All proceeds from their cycling challenge will now go to help, support and provide educational programmes for children living in, and around, the Redditch area.”
The Oakland Foundation works with children, young people and their families living in Redditch, Bromsgrove and the surrounding area, by providing help and support through activities and educational projects based on health and nutrition, education and sport.
Members of the Redditch Escargots CC not able to attend offered their support to riders by donating and through sponsorship. You can still donate through any of the eight riders’ pages which are available via the Oakland Foundation’s JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/oakland-foundation
